Things To Do On Holiday In Akbuk

There are countless things you can do whilst enjoying a holiday in Akbuk in Turkey.

Depending on what type of accomodation you are staying in you will find a wide selection of things to do and places to visit from a holiday "base" in this resort.

If you are staying in one of the several hotels in Akbuk you may decide to spend a fair amount of time in the hotel itself, using its own amenities and facilities that it offers. This could be the hotels own bar and restaurant, perhaps a spa, a swimming pool, or possibly a sports facility such as a bowling green or tennis court.

Most people on holiday in Akbuk spend some time relaxing around the pool or just simply sunbathing. Mot Akbuk hotels have a quantity of sun loungers for their guests to make use of whilst on holiday too.

If you are staying in an Akbuk holiday apartment then you will usually find these are situated on an apartment site or one that also has other holiday homes on it such as a detached villa. Most of these sites (or you could call them a complex) have good facilities that nearly always include at least one swimming pool, a bar or cafe, and on some sites a dedicated play area for the children.

Moving outside your holiday accommodation the resort of Akbuk (that is within easy reach of Altinkum too) allows you to do a wide range of things - and within a reasonable travelling distance and time.

Akbuk Harbour

The harbour in this Turkish resort plays host to many different boat trips as well as fishing excursions. Here you can go on a fishing trip for the day or if you prefer an even more relaxed time enjoy a half day or full day on a boat trip around the several beautiful coves close to the resort, stopping off for a bite to eat and something to drink under the hot Turkish sun.

The harbour area is also the location where several bars and restaurants are located, as you can imagine several of these specialise in fish dishes for their customers using fresh fish caught by Akbuk fishermen.

Craft Market

In some of the peak holiday season months you can usually find a craft market that is situated close to the harbour. Here you can visit stalls where traders sell hand made craft items including pictures, jewellery, clothing, as well as food and drink commodities. Looking for a unique charm or something to remind you of Turkey? You would benefit from spending some time at this market.

Local Beach

Wherever your accomodation is in Akbuk you are never really far away from a beach. as you move along the coastine from Akbuk towards Altinkum you will find all types and sizes of coves and beaches, some sandy, some shingle. One of the best nearby beaches is known locally as "university beach". This one has clear water and lovely soft sand - ideal for family use. In the area near to the harbour you will find two other beaches, these are not as nice as the university beach but are still ideal for spending some time on.

Eating Out

Most holiday makers that are staying in the resort of Akbuk choose to eat-in at their apartment or holiday home for most of the time. Some though choose to dine out at one or more of the cafes or restaurants that can be found here.

In the village centre you will find a selection of restaurants that offer a wide range of different cuisines, some even offer International dishes such as Indian and Mexican food. It is worth noting though that the standards of the restaurants can vary dramatically here from one restaurant to another, but this is typical of most holiday resorts that can be found in Turkey. At the time of writing in our opinion there we're two really good restaurants worthy of dining at during your holiday stay here, these we're "The Garden" and the very popular "Pasa" restaurant.

Shopping

Whilst you will be able to find a selection of shops in this resort they are really limited on the choice of products and commodities that they offer. Most cater for residents and holiday makers for their food and drink purchases and not for leisurely shopping for luxury goods. You will find several clothes shops and perhaps one electrical store - but don't think that you will find a shopping mall here! For that you will need to take a trip to nearby Didim or Altinkum.

The exception to this someway is the weekly market that is held in Akbuk. Here you can visit (on a Friday) and buy a wide range of products from traditional market vendors. Think of kitchen ware, glassware, crockery, cutlery, fresh vegetables and fruit, as well as all types of clothing. This is an "old fashioned" market as used to be present in most UK towns and villages in years gone by.

Apollo Temple

This can be found in the historic town of Didim. It is an interesting and impressive site and well worth a visit if you enjoy sight seeing.

Jeep Safari

For those that want a bit of fun whilst in Turkey consider booking a Jeep Safari trip. This consists of a full day out visiting the surrounding villages and areas along the coastline between Akbuk and Didim. The Jeep Safari day trip takes you to places you would normally never see, and at the same time throws a lot of fun and laughs in. Be warned - in the hot summer months of July and August you will need sun protection whilst out for the day on this trip.

Aqua Water Park

For both the young ones as well as the adults; Adaland Aqua Park is one of the best water parks to visit whilst in Turkey. Located in Kusadasi (about 50 miles away) this water park has lots of great water slides as well as places to sun bathe and relax. If this is too far for you to travel to consider visiting the smaller water park that is on the outskirts of Altinkum. Whilst this park does not have the same number of rides and slides it still offers a great family fun day out. For adults on holiday with children this should be on your to-do list of things to do whilst in Akbuk.
