About the Yasmin Gardens site:

This holiday apartment in Akbuk is situated on the apartment site that is called Yasmin Gardens. Built several years ago this site has several blocks of apartments that vary in size from small studio type apartments through to the large family sized "duplex" units as is featured above.

The site is very open allowing a cool breeze to blow through from the nearby coastline which makes sunbathing pleasureable here - especially during the really hot Turkish months of June, July and August. By "open" we mean the apartment buildings are not "on top of each other!" The site features grassed landscaped gardens which surround the multiple swimming pools; there are three pools of differing sizes as well as a pool for toddlers and young children.

At the side of the main pool is a small pool bar that is open from around mid morning each day until late at night. Here you can get a refreshment whether it is a cup of coffee or tea, soft drinks, or something a little stronger. It also serves snacks and bites to eat from its menu.

During the main holiday months the Yasmin Gardens Apartment Site also has a convenience shop that opens for long periods each day. Whilst on holiday you can stock up here with daily essentials including drinks, food, and other products that you may need. Within a short walk there are also several other local shops where you can buy fresh fruit and vegetables as well as bread, eggs, milk, and other food stuffs that you may need whilst self catering here.

Outside Yasmin Gardens

The village centre which is the resort of Akbuk is about a 20 to 25 minute slow walk from Yasmin Gardens. If you prefer not to walk there is a regular bus service that stops close by (5 minutes walk from the apartment main entrance) called the Dolmus. This bus service can take you right into the centre of Akbuk or alternatively you can ask the driver to stop at anywhere on route to get off.

Near to Yasmin Gardens is the coastline with its crystal clear sea and prom that leads to a beach in either direction. On the prom there are several bars, cafes, and restaurants that you can visit if you don't want to commute down into the resort centre itself.

In Akbuk centre you will find bars, cafes, restaurants, as well as numerous shops selling a wide range of products. There is also a petrol station and taxi rank here as well as the lovely Akbuk harbour. The harbour is where you can chart a fishing boat for the day or go on a relaxing boat trip.

Fancy something to eat? Consider dinning out at one of the many lovely restaurants that Akbuk in Turkey offers. Our personal favourites are The Garden, Pizza Hati, and Pasa.

If you are planning well ahead, perhaps looking for a holiday break to take in at least 6 months time or more, then perhaps you have the time to research quite thoroughly and find a suitable property that really appeals to you? On the other hand you may have just decided to book a last minute holiday and need to find suitable accomodation fast!

When you are in this position you have several options open to you; 1) visit a local travel agent and let them search for a holiday apartment in Akbuk for you, 2) telephone one of the many travel agents that advertise on the internet, 3) find a suitable holiday apartment by way of using the internet on your computer, ipad, or smart phone yourself.

The last option oftens shows up a selection of really good holiday apartments that can often be booked at the last minute, these can be a real bargain saving you money over what you would pay at a high street travel agent in the UK.

Considerations on choosing your accommodation

Here is a list of some points you could consider when booking a self catering holiday to Akbuk, Turkey.

  • Location - do you want accommodation that is close to a beach or the coastline?

Things To Do On Holiday In Akbuk

There are countless things you can do whilst enjoying a holiday in Akbuk in Turkey.

Depending on what type of accomodation you are staying in you will find a wide selection of things to do and places to visit from a holiday "base" in this resort.

If you are staying in one of the several hotels in Akbuk you may decide to spend a fair amount of time in the hotel itself, using its own amenities and facilities that it offers. This could be the hotels own bar and restaurant, perhaps a spa, a swimming pool, or possibly a sports facility such as a bowling green or tennis court.

Most people on holiday in Akbuk spend some time relaxing around the pool or just simply sunbathing. Mot Akbuk hotels have a quantity of sun loungers for their guests to make use of whilst on holiday too.

If you are staying in an Akbuk holiday apartment then you will usually find these are situated on an apartment site or one that also has other holiday homes on it such as a detached villa. Most of these sites (or you could call them a complex) have good facilities that nearly always include at least one swimming pool, a bar or cafe, and on some sites a dedicated play area for the children.

Moving outside your holiday accommodation the resort of Akbuk (that is within easy reach of Altinkum too) allows you to do a wide range of things - and within a reasonable travelling distance and time.

Akbuk Harbour

The harbour in this Turkish resort plays host to many different boat trips as well as fishing excursions. Here you can go on a fishing trip for the day or if you prefer an even more relaxed time enjoy a half day or full day on a boat trip around the several beautiful coves close to the resort, stopping off for a bite to eat and something to drink under the hot Turkish sun.

The harbour area is also the location where several bars and restaurants are located, as you can imagine several of these specialise in fish dishes for their customers using fresh fish caught by Akbuk fishermen.

Craft Market

In some of the peak holiday season months you can usually find a craft market that is situated close to the harbour. Here you can visit stalls where traders sell hand made craft items including pictures, jewellery, clothing, as well as food and drink commodities. Looking for a unique charm or something to remind you of Turkey? You would benefit from spending some time at this market.

Local Beach

Wherever your accomodation is in Akbuk you are never really far away from a beach. as you move along the coastine from Akbuk towards Altinkum you will find all types and sizes of coves and beaches, some sandy, some shingle. One of the best nearby beaches is known locally as "university beach". This one has clear water and lovely soft sand - ideal for family use. In the area near to the harbour you will find two other beaches, these are not as nice as the university beach but are still ideal for spending some time on.

Eating Out

Most holiday makers that are staying in the resort of Akbuk choose to eat-in at their apartment or holiday home for most of the time. Some though choose to dine out at one or more of the cafes or restaurants that can be found here.

In the village centre you will find a selection of restaurants that offer a wide range of different cuisines, some even offer International dishes such as Indian and Mexican food. It is worth noting though that the standards of the restaurants can vary dramatically here from one restaurant to another, but this is typical of most holiday resorts that can be found in Turkey. At the time of writing in our opinion there we're two really good restaurants worthy of dining at during your holiday stay here, these we're "The Garden" and the very popular "Pasa" restaurant.

Shopping

Whilst you will be able to find a selection of shops in this resort they are really limited on the choice of products and commodities that they offer. Most cater for residents and holiday makers for their food and drink purchases and not for leisurely shopping for luxury goods. You will find several clothes shops and perhaps one electrical store - but don't think that you will find a shopping mall here! For that you will need to take a trip to nearby Didim or Altinkum.

The exception to this someway is the weekly market that is held in Akbuk. Here you can visit (on a Friday) and buy a wide range of products from traditional market vendors. Think of kitchen ware, glassware, crockery, cutlery, fresh vegetables and fruit, as well as all types of clothing. This is an "old fashioned" market as used to be present in most UK towns and villages in years gone by.

Apollo Temple

This can be found in the historic town of Didim. It is an interesting and impressive site and well worth a visit if you enjoy sight seeing.

Jeep Safari

For those that want a bit of fun whilst in Turkey consider booking a Jeep Safari trip. This consists of a full day out visiting the surrounding villages and areas along the coastline between Akbuk and Didim. The Jeep Safari day trip takes you to places you would normally never see, and at the same time throws a lot of fun and laughs in. Be warned - in the hot summer months of July and August you will need sun protection whilst out for the day on this trip.

Aqua Water Park

For both the young ones as well as the adults; Adaland Aqua Park is one of the best water parks to visit whilst in Turkey. Located in Kusadasi (about 50 miles away) this water park has lots of great water slides as well as places to sun bathe and relax. If this is too far for you to travel to consider visiting the smaller water park that is on the outskirts of Altinkum. Whilst this park does not have the same number of rides and slides it still offers a great family fun day out. For adults on holiday with children this should be on your to-do list of things to do whilst in Akbuk.

Ways To Find A Holiday Apartment

How To Find A Holiday Apartment To Rent In Akbuk

When it comes to finding a suitable holiday apartment or other accommodation for your stay in this part of Turkey you have several options.

With a relaxed and unhurried lifestyle Akbuk offers daily life at a far slower pace than the alternative resorts of Didim or Altinkum in Turkey. Most holiday makers that choose to stay here do so because of this as well as the natural beauty of the coastline that this resort offers. In addition there is a lovely mountain range backdrop to the resort of Akbuk where you can undertake walks and trekking if this interests you.

So, what are your options on how to find a holiday apartment to rent in Akbuk?

One of the first choices is to simply pay a visit to a UK travel agent and go down the traditional route of booking a package holiday that includes a suitable flight and holiday apartment that appeals to you.

Another option is to contact the individual accomodation sites and see what they have to offer. Perhaps the best choice though is to contact directly one of the actual UK owners and effectively cut out all the "middle men". This way will save you time and usually a considerable amount of money as well.

The UK Sunday newspapers occasionally feature advertisements from owners that wish to rent out their individual properties, another method of course is to use the power of the Internet and search online for an Akbuk Holiday Apartment to rent that is just right for you.

Other things to consider

When looking for the ideal accommodation in this part of Turkey consider a few other things as well as the rental price. One thing to consider is do you want to find a holiday apartment that has its own swimming pool, or if it is situated close to the beach is that good enough? Of course most of the site complex's here have at least one pool if not several. Some of the sites also have a convenience store / shop as well as a bar or on-site cafe. These little points are what can really make the difference to a holiday in Turkey. Whilst searching for a suitable or recommended apartment why not check what facilities are in the close area too?

The latest Bing and Google search engines are capable of now delivering really good results to our own search criteria whilst using the web. With just a few click of a computer mouse or the press of a few buttons on an Ipad you can find a good choice of holiday apartments that are available to rent in Akbuk. The same goes if you would prefer your holiday accommodation to be in Altinkum or Didim.

Made your mind up to book direct with a private UK owner? Simply type that search phrase into Bing or Google and up will pop its most relevant results. Want accommodation aimed at a family? Again search by way of using "family" in your search terms!

Recommendations

It would not be right we think to not include the worthiness of personal recommendations when it comes to finding a suitable holiday accommodation. A personal review or recommendation of a particular apartment goes a long way - often far further than a travel agents brochure or advert. So you could consider simply asking your relatives, friends, and work colleagues of they know of somebody that has an apartment to suit.
